The beanie begins with a pinhole cast-on, similar to a circular cast-on. Using a crochet hook to pull the yarn through may make the process easier.
Increases are worked along four knit columns while establishing the 2x2 rib pattern for the crown. After the increase section, work continues straight until reaching the bottom edge.
The beanie is finished with an I-cord bind-off. Alternatively, any other stretchy bind-off may be used if preferred.
Choose the size with negative ease. Due to the stretchiness of 2x2 rib, the first size fits most of head shapes and sizes. The second size doesn’t provide too much negative ease but it also fits well and doesn’t come off the head easily.
Make sure you’re on the right gauge and measure your head circumference well while choosing your size.
