Laima is responsible for fate or destiny, and one of her signs is a fir branch. The evenly spaced slanted lines represent the good and bad, night and day, the ups and downs that happen in life. A line down the center (preferably green) is Laima’s thread.
Latvian mitten patterns are knit in mirror images, this indicates quality. You can wear your wrist warmers on either hand, so that you have them pointing in, if you feel the need to protect yourself, or if you feel you have energy and love to give to others wear them pointing out.
