A simple rib lace rectangle in spiral curve layers of color and texture, combining self-striping yarn with lush mohair.

Dimensions: 20”/51 cm top circumference, 46”/117 cm bottom circumference, 12”/30.5 cm wide, 20”/51 cm deep at center front

Gauge: 20 sts x 24 rows in Serpentine Eyelet Stitch, unblocked = 4”/10 cm

Skill level: Beginner

Techniques: 1x1 rib lace, added I-cord edge, knitting with yarns held together, grafting

Volute is worked flat holding fingering weight and 2 mohair yarns together for the entire rectangle. The edges are worked with fingering only, but doubled with the stripe colors offset or matched as desired, in a 2 row looser I-cord worked to allow the piece to remain flat. The rectangle is then folded with one short end grafted or sewn to the opposite end of a long side.
