Named for the expressive traditional flat woven kilims of Anatolia which often use colorful yarn remnants in playful combinations, Kilim combines two of my favorite stitches in a textured stashbusting wrap and with a braided trim. Long herringbone self-striping side panels are worked flat and edged with Latvian braid trim and a linen stitch band, then picked up and knit together while working the center panel. The entire rectangular shawl is then banded in the round, and trimmed working flat. Panels are easily adaptable to make a longer or wider shawl by adding more rows or stitches to the panels, or additional panels.
