Patchwork texture and color, a play on Turkish kilims called cicim (ji-jim), a neutral flatweave base with multiple patterns and needlework. Features symmetry, offset color blocks, vertical slipstitches, rectangular shapes with strong garter division lines, needle-wrapped borders, and twisted fringe tassels at the corners.

Techniques: Slipped, dropped and wrapped stitches, I-cords,
grafting

Vertical slip stitches are worked first in the wider piece, alternating 3 sets of 2-color pairs in rectangular blocks,
garter stitch edges each side and dividing the blocks. A narrower strip is worked in a similar manner with the same color pairs, but in an offset layout. These two 14-block pieces are joined along a long end by a band of garter stitch, with flower wraps along the drop stitch center. Garter stitch bands with flower wraps are added to each long side. Short ends are finished with a 6-color I-cord, and corners are embellished with twisted fringe tassels, inspired by warp tassels found on
traditional Turkish kilims.
